Do you do commissioned work?
Yes, I do take a limited number of commissions a year. The number depends on what else I am working on at that time.
As a practitioner of Slow Art I am very intentional about each painting I create. I only pick subjects I resonate with. My painting process is multi layered and requires waiting in between to achieve the depth depicted. Please check with me for availability. I will post here if I am not taking any more commissions.
How long do you take to create a painting?
Depends. I believe there is a point when life enters a painting. Before which, it is only a plausible imitation of nature and after which it becomes an object capable of inspiring emotion. When that point is reached is not in the hands of the artist. Reaching that point is what I refer to as a painting getting resolved or reaching resolution. I, for my part, strive to not sign any painting before that point is reached.
Some paintings, even though they are small, require a great deal of time to resolve and some paintings, even though large, could get done in weeks. I would say 6 months is a fair amount of time for most paintings to achieve resolution. After which they need at-least couple more months to dry.
Can you reproduce a painting in a larger size for me?
Yes. Check with me and I can tell you how large of a painting is possible while still retaining the integrity of the subject matter. Paintings painted too large tend to lose life.
Who owns the rights to the paintings?
Collectors of my painting own the right to display the purchased physical. I still own the rights to the image and to reproduce the paintings, even commissioned ones. Collectors do have an option to buy all rights to a painting if they so desire.
